When Does a College Essay Become Too Personal?When doing a college essay become too personal? When it starts off with an argument, question, or conclusion that is too personal. Sometimes students feel as though they should stay out of the opinions of others, but that is exactly why essays have a certain character to them; you can't judge someone without first asking yourself what you would say to him/her if you were in their shoes.In my opinion, this is where essays are at their best. There is nothing wrong with saying a lot about your personal views and experiences, but in order to do that, you have to leave yourself open to be able to expand on those points later. Yes, you could say 'well, I have read about this and it makes sense to me', but if you leave your reader out to dry, the experience is not memorable or engaging. In fact, by doing so, it becomes tiresome for the reader to come back to the essay and find yourself repeating the same information.This is one of the reasons th at I believe that a college essay is a great idea. It allows the reader to see you without you having to talk about yourself. By doing this, you let the reader think about things for themselves and not just accept the facts. This is what makes a college essay special and makes it great to write.How often do you get to tell a story about yourself? In a way, it is kind of like being able to tell a story to your friends and family about who you are and how you deal with the challenges you face in life, but only from a different point of view.How does a college essay differ from a social interaction? Again, a college essay allows you to ask more questions and not just have answers. It allows you to explain how you came to understand what you know and how you believe it applies to your situation.As I said before, when doing a college essay become too personal? When you start getting very personal by asking a question that gets away from the point of the article and causes the reader to l ose interest. When you put words into your own mouth and allow the reader to have a direct experience with your feelings, opinion, or belief about something.It is not easy to write an essay and for some, it is downright impossible.
